John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co. and Furst Films are partnering with IM Global to produce an
untitled musical romantic drama starring Grammy-winning singer Miguel. The film will start production
in September in Philadelphia. Legend will produce alongside his Get Lifted partner Mike Jackson and
Furst Film principals Sean and Bryan Furst.IM Global’s Stuart Ford and President of Production Matt
Jackson are executive producing along with Glendon Palmer and Get Lifted partner Ty Stiklorius.
IM Global launched IM Global Music last year to generate music-driven film and TV content. CAA
helped broker the co-production and financing arrangement with IM Global and will represent domestic
rights.
Commercials director Nabil Elderkin will make his feature film directorial debut from a script by Taylor
Cohen. Legend, who won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Glory” from Ava DuVernay’s “Selma,”
will curate the music.
The producers are in negotiations with Miguel to star in the film as a former one hit wonder who regains
his love for music when he is hired to coach an aspiring singer for her audition on a singing competition
show.
