When she's not bringing the boys to the yard, Kelis can be found indulging her love of cooking. In forthcoming
her cookbook My Life on a Plate: Delicious Everyday Recipes & Sauces, the Food singer lets us into her life and
her kitchen. More than just milkshakes and jerk ribs, the book is "a reflection of her life through food."
Due Sept. 7, My Life on a Plate is a "collection of Kelis' favorite recipes." This love of food is nothing new for Kelis,
whose mother ran her own catering business in Harlem as the "Bossy" songstress was growing up. Inspired by
her Puerto Rican heritage and her world travels, the recipes will range from Pernil to Arroz con Swedish Meatballs
to Malay Curry Chicken. Following her 10-year mark in the music industry, Kelis took her skills to Le Cordon Bleu,
which "gave her the confidence to call herself a chef and to write her first cookbook."
